The PHA Wellness Foundation is committed to having a positive impact on the overall health of Pennsylvanians by addressing conditions prevalent in the state -- including diabetes, obesity, hypertension, heart disease, drug abuse and much more.
The PHA Wellness Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) public charity, which allows donations to be tax deductible and increases the organization’s eligibility for a variety of grant programs.
The PHA Wellness Foundation aligns with the World Health Organization’s definition of health: “Health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”1 This concept of health drives the foundation to address a comprehensive range of health topics that have an impact on the lives of PHA members and Pennsylvanians in general. Lifestyle and environment have a profound influence on all aspects of health and well-being – it is the PHA’s intent to determine members’ chief health concerns and to provide learning opportunities to empower Pennsylvanians to develop a culture of well-being.
Care-Giver Support Fund
Thanks to improved health care, people are living longer and homeowner families are more affected by age-related maladies such as as dementia and Alzheimer's Disease.
Enacted in the 1960s, Medicare did not anticipate the home health care needs and costs of such age-related conditions and care-givers are over-extended physically, emotionally and financially -- to the point of insolvency, bankruptcy and despair.
